I am writing this from India after having made a commitment to myself to embrace deep change. The change I speak of requires authenticity and trust, allowing for the uncertainty of my future through total surrender to a process called 'living enlightenment'. While it may sound "wordy whoo hop" it is one of the most practical transformational experiences I know. Practical doesn't make it easy. Change, transformation at any level is psychological and physiological . Letting go of the past, letting go of my habits, patterns, laziness, excuses and 'my way or the highway' thinking, removing the stubborn roots of resistance, is not comfortable. One would be surprised at how masterful and tenacious we are of being in charge of ourselves and our lives. I would soon learn just how impractical I am and how that was running or ruining my life.
Why India? After many years of inner work, taking workshops and courses, I was introduced to the work and teachings of an Enlightened Master, Paramahamsa Sri Nithyananda. (means eternal bliss)
I was invited to listen to a live webinar talk that he would deliver on the topic of "2012". From an enlightened perspective, the change that "the world" was getting ready for and that scientists spoke about in terms of earth changes, fractals and cycles ending and beginning was to Hinduism, a long awaited new age called, 'the age of aquarius'. The very same 'age' that "The 5th Dimension" band have recorded! Remember this great song? At last it's time has come.
Be careful what you ask for, as Forrest Gump says, "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get"! I cant pass up chocolate on any occasion and I couldn't pass up the opportunities that presented themselves after listening to Swamiji share and enlighten me about 2012. There followed an invitation to attend his ashram for 'Inner Awakening' - the course. For me this invitation was equivalent to God-iva Chocolate!! And by the way, eating an entire box of chocolates is not a problem for me! Four months later I landed in Bangalore with a suitcase full of white clothes ready to meet for the first time, live in person, a living incarnation of Lord Shiva, destroyer of ego!! Sounds ominous doesn't it? Sugar, I had no idea how my life was about to change. It is now one and a half years later and I am on the campus here outside of Bidadi, a small town about an hour from Bangalore. It is mid September. I am waiting to be assigned a volunteer position and am excited to experience a change of space that 'happens' as a result of being in the space of a "Master, Guru, Enlightened One"!
"Listen"
We receive information through our five senses and we process that information internally. We relate to it in a particular way and respond to it and life from the understanding we derive from it known as our cognition. Everyone has a unique cognition. When you look in a mirror what do you see? One might look at a face and see frustration and someone else might interpret that face as disappointment while a third person may see the face as expressing anger. Everyones cognition and the response that arises through it is based on what is called their "root thought pattern". The root thought patterns gives us a particular way of understanding that always shrinks and limits us. This root thought pattern gives birth to conflicting thought patterns which are the basis of all conflicts one experiences in life. Unless the root thought patterns are weeded out of our system, conflicts, habits and patterns will continue to express through us and run our lives. This is the guts of the work we undertake to clear our minds and our lives of interpretations and meanings which have no basis in reality but create a lot suffering individually and collectively in all our lives.
Can you imagine the space a master holds for humanity to heal these conflicts and misunderstandings that cause wars, hatred, jealousy, victims? Jesus did, Nithyananda does, Sai Baba did,,there are so many enlightened masters who come to help us, teach us and heal the past and complete so that our souls can evolve and with greater awareness move beyond this dimension of consciousness into oneness. Don't give up on yourself and don't give up on others. Share what you know, enrich lives and hold a space of possibility for all life to transform, to experience and express joy. Bliss is the ground of our being and Life is for expansion and expanding, why shouldn't we?
This is the groundwork for "Living Enlightenment" based on the Vedic tradition which has 5000 year old roots in spirituality and science.
